Acne
Treatment differs depending on whether acne is mainly comedonal, inflammatory with papules and pustules, or nodular with higher scarring risk. Extraction, intralesional injections, PDT/PTT, topical agents, and oral medication are combined in stages according to the current condition.
Changes That May Occur During Treatment
Extraction or light/laser treatment may cause temporary redness and irritation. Areas with deeper inflammation may leave red marks or brown pigmentation after acne settles.
Possible Side Effects- After extraction, bruising, swelling, minor bleeding, crusting, or temporary pigmentation may occur. Repeatedly touching lesions can increase scarring risk.
- Intralesional injections may cause pain or bruising; depending on steroid response, skin depression, atrophy, or color change may occur.
- PDT/PTT and laser treatments may cause redness, warmth, dryness, scaling, or temporary acne flare; stronger light reactions or pigmentation can occur.
- Oral medications such as antibiotics and isotretinoin have different precautions, including gastrointestinal symptoms, dry skin/lips, and photosensitivity. Medical history and concomitant medications should be reviewed before use.
Acne can recur, so treatment to control active inflammation is planned separately from the timing of treatment for marks and scars. Equipment Used
Equipment is selected or combined according to skin condition and treatment goals.
